Weekly Recap

Over the last few weeks, Twitter has undergone major changes with the new direction of Elon Musk. Social media in general is one of those things that is constantly changing and honestly as a maker who uses exclusively the internet to make a living, all these changes lead to a very uncertain future.

One thought that immediately popped into my head after reading about the new subscription service on Twitter was that if it worked for Twitter, what's to stop Instagram and these other platforms from turning themselves into a places where we all have to pay to use them? New social media platforms will come, take the stage in trendiness, promise to stay free, and then realize that between bots and the lack of ads/sponsorship, they'll also have to make a change to being subscription-based.

I'm not a pessimist and I realize that these mega-social media platforms are businesses at the end of the day and they'll do just about anything to make a profit. What I am cynical about is how many hackers are cropping up and taking over someone's account and then nothing can be done about it. This is happening everywhere with both personal profiles and small business accounts. Frankly, it's exhausting having to constantly be watching for these spam accounts and the idea of losing all the hard work I've put into creating my corner of the internet would be very sad. I wanted my space to be inspiring, filled with my ideas, and a place where you could just enjoy a few minutes of your day.

With all this in mind, I will continue to use Instagram but I will become more proactive on my website to ensure that the content I create is always free for you, remains enjoyable, and is can still be my corner of the internet where I document my ideas and inspirations. What I prefer about the website is that you can come to it at any time; I'm not bombarding you with emails, I'm not asking for engagement, it's just here and meant to bring a little joy into your life when you need it.

I've got a few ideas in mind for how to move forward with this and I thought I'd simply share the photos I posted on Instagram into one post on here. You'll see everything all together and I'll write a few thoughts from the week.

This week, I've been showcasing new work for the upcoming La Dolce Vita Collection while also reflecting on its importance to me. Half of the pieces were made when I was pregnant, the other half were made as a new mother. I finally finished the Serpenti Earrings, got everything photographed and now I've been sharing details and pricing because my IG followers had voted to see everything before the release.

This Collection will be available Nov 11, 2022 (11.11.22) at 9am. Email subscribers will get first dibs and a discount code.

That's all for now, thanks for reading. Hope this new segment is enjoyable.
